Reviews & Quotes:
"Lyricism and groove should not be contradictory. The same applies to
pace, depth and gracefulness, let alone swing and intelligence. In addition,
the compositions of the Amsterdam-based pianist also tell wonderful stories,
which really dots the i's.
Doepke, a romantic at heart like Bill Evans has developed his own
signature on the 88 keys with a clear touch and a sovereign technique, that
clearly distinguishes him from the German jazz pianist masses.
You'll see someone buckled down to a concert grand, who is equally
familiar with sunlit open spaces in a forest and the liveliness of a
metropolis, witness "Heaven Knows" and Looking For Trouble". (Jazzpodium)"
Als solopianist is Christian
ijzersterk" (Parool)
"Christian Doepke besticht mit feinster und ruhiger Melodieführung". (Piano)
From 2011 on, tinnitus and
hyperacusis unfortunately forced Christian to reduce the number of live gigs. To fill this dark gap, he started teaching again and developed his own special skills to teach kids with ADHD,
dyslexia or autistic spectrum
disorders.
To find a new platform to express his creativity besides playing and composing, he started sketching and
painting. The visual artist in himself started
to grow and his second great passion took more and more space in his life.
This website shows where his
career is at right now. The change from being a full-time piano player to a life with more
variety, being a pianist, composer, visual artist and teacher.
